The rumors are stirring about Robert Downey Jr. being cast in the prequel to The Wizard of Oz.
Apparently Disney has green lighted the project with RDJ cast as the wizard.
The story is about Oz’s days working with a circus in Kansas. “The Times describes the wizard as ‘a more dark and complex character in the Roth/Kapner version than the desperate and doddering wizard of the MGM musical (played by Frank Morgan) would suggest.’” (Article)
I think the story could be pretty cool. The original left many questions unanswered about the wizard. This film will shed some light on how the man became the floating headed wizard. As long as this doesn’t tarnish the original I say go for it.
It should be very entertaining. Who know maybe a band will compose an album to accompany the movie.
I would looooooooove to see Robert Downey Jr. as the Wizard.
